Responding to Child/Adolescent to Parent Abuse (CAPA)
Target Audience
Front line workers who come across CAPA in the course of their daily work e.g. social workers health workers, domestic abuse practitioners, counsellors and therapists.
Outcomes for trainees
Trainees will gain an understanding of the prevalence, potential causes and research around CAPA.

- Establish the extent of the problems for risk assessment and safety planning
- Reduce shame and self blame and increase parental effectiveness
- Working with parents and children to develop a family agreement
- Working with parents to plan for their and other family members safety
- Enable restorative conversations and help parents respond with ‘love and limits’ to their child’s behaviour
